As an Emergency Services District (ESD), we are a publicly funded entity providing fire suppression, rescue operations, and emergency medical response. How We Are Funded

East County Fire Department (ESD 7) is funded primarily through a voter-approved property tax, currently set at $0.874 per $100.00 of assessed property value. This funding ensures stable and dedicated resources for fire protection and emergency response.

Additionally, ESD 7 receives a portion of the local sales tax, which helps support operations, training, and equipment. However, this sales tax does not apply to purchases made within the city limits of incorporated areas.

This combination of funding allows us to maintain highly trained personnel, invest in modern equipment, and operate multiple fire stations to serve the community effectively. As a public entity, we are committed to transparency and fiscal responsibility, ensuring that every dollar is used to enhance emergency services and keep our community safe.
